Tony Gentry

Tony Gentry's new book is the speculative fiction novel Covenant City. His previous novels The Night Doctor of Richmond and The Coal Tower were both short-listed for the Faulkner Society Novel Award, and his YA biography of Dizzy Gillespie won a New York Public Library Best Books for Teens Award. He has also authored a story collection Last Rites, a poetry collection Yearnful Raves, a book about his father's wartime experience WWII Mortarman, and a series of young adult biographies (Paul Laurence Dunbar, Jesse Owens, Dizzy Gillespie, Alice Walker and Elvis Presley). A professor emeritus of occupational therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University, Tony lives with his wife Christine in Bon Air, Virginia.
